How did you get your lucky break?


I got a last minute chance to fill a gap in a Sunday night charity show. It was a big success. Then I found my gimmick. I bought a beat up old upright piano in a junk shop and recorded ‘Black and White Rage’. My ‘other piano’ caught on from the start.’

What do you hate?

Colour prejudice- and new shoes.

 

Your husband Lew Levisohn is white. Has it worked out?

We have been happily married for 13 years. We married within three months of our first meeting, so it was quite a whirlwind romance.

 

Was your family poor?

No, my dad had a chemist shop. Suspicious of my musical plans he made me qualify as a chemist first, so that one day , if need be, I could go back to the business.
